Dawn's Story: Mother-Friend

Dawn’s Story

Mother // Friend // Woman that matters

strength

/streNG(k)TH/

Noun

spirit of endurance

Life can be hard. Disease, illness, grief, loss, and disaster are all realities of life that can be extreme challenges. In saying this, these obstacles offer us the opportunity to develop our STRENGTH.

I love that the apostle, Paul, wrote to the Romans in 57 AD encouraging them that “not only so, but we also have glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance.” (Rom. 5.3). We can have GLORY and JOY in our suffering and trials when we trust in the Lord because He is faithful to use that challenge to produce perseverance in our hearts. He gives us His strength to fight our battles if we ask Him! What a cool thing!!

Mrs. Dawn is a woman of strength! While doctors may not use this word at first to describe her physical condition, she has endured great challenges that have produced great strength in her character. Mrs. Dawn has a rare autoimmune disease called Lambert Eaton Myasthenia.

This disease interferes with the ability of nerve cells to send signals to muscle cells, and it can make typical actions like going up stairs, lifting, and even walking, very difficult. She has used her experience to not only help other people understand the disease more, but she has also been a comfort to others navigating this diagnosis.

Mrs. Dawn currently lives by herself, and is completely isolated during the course of this pandemic of COVID-19. She could most definitely use encouragement and truth poured into her mailbox and heart!

Would you commit to writing Mrs. Dawn a letter? A few simple words can speak greater volumes than you could ever know! Remind her that she matters!
