Reagan’s Story

Child of the King // Friend // Daughter // Woman that matters

grace

/ɡrās/

noun

Divine love or pardon: a state of undeserved and unearned acceptance with God. Free and manifested in the salvation of sinners through Jesus.

I heard a story once about a Dad that was trying to discipline his son. He had told him throughout the day to stop fighting with his little sister. If he fought with her his dad promised that he would not get to eat dinner that night. Towards supper time, the little boy picked a big fight with his younger sister. So, the family of 4 sat down to eat, with only 3 plates at the table. The little boy looked down at the table with tears in his eyes, ashamed. As the meal was about to begin, the Dad picked up his plate of food and placed it in front of his son. The little boy looked up at him, confused, and asked, “Why, Dad? I fought with my sister when you told me not to.” And his Dad simply replied, “This is what grace is.” Unearned and undeserving, but a great and glorious gift available for us to receive. This is the gift that Jesus offered every one of us on the cross centuries ago. We still can receive that unearned and undeserved gift today by believing in Him & asking Him to be the leader of our lives.

Wow. That story brings tears to my eyes each time I read it. We all mess up. We all look like that little boy sometimes. But we all can have access to a Savior that did not mess up and that still took all of our mistakes so that we would only have to believe in Him to be saved from our brokenness. It can be hard to believe that it’s true, but when we live out of that truth we can experience freedom like no other!

One of Reagan’s friends has asked us to remind her of grace. She wrote to us saying that “Reagan is a light to everyone she meets.” She brings joy where she goes and cares deeply about loving others. Recently she has faced a lot of trials regarding self worth.

Her sweet friend exclaims that Reagan is so beautiful inside and out. She is quick to uplift others and point them towards God’s grace and mercy, and right now we get the opportunity to encourage her and point her back to God’s grace and mercy too. There is still a seat for her at the table.

Would you commit to writing Reagan a letter? A few simple words can speak greater volumes than you could ever know! Remind her that she matters!
