Ukrainian People’s Story

Friends / Children / Mothers / Fathers / Grandparents / People that Matter

обійняти

/embrace/

verb

To hold someone closely, to support

Sometimes there are no words to express how our hearts feel or how we desire to communicate. We struggle to find the words to speak into terribly difficult, dark situations.

The war occurring in Ukraine is one of those circumstances. What can we say? Our hearts hurt and are so heavy for the people suffering along with their families and loved ones who are impacted.

While it can be challenging to find the words, the simple act of taking the time to write a letter may speak even louder than the words themselves. Maybe you have a gift for art- send a painting or drawing! Maybe you have the best taste in music- share your favorite song! Maybe you love to read- write your favorite quote! Maybe you love to pray with people- write a prayer!

Those small acts can serve as a kind of “embrace-” a small way to love people from across the world and show them that they are being thought of and prayed for.

Would you commit to writing a letter or a few to people in Ukraine? A few simple words and your thoughtful card can speak greater volumes than you could ever know! Remind them that they matter!

*we will be collecting letters for this story throughout April and May
